This composition of various pieces was born out of the idea to
musically celebrate the hundredth anniversaries of the Baltic
states. The concept was built around the male choir version of
‘Questions’ by Erkki-Sven Tüür. This was ordered by the Estonian
National Male Choir from the composer, and was first performed in
2015. The text for the piece consists of fragments of an interview
with the quantum physicist, David Bohm, in the form of questions
and answers. Those questions seemed appropriate to pose to one’s
own country on its hundredth birthday. Keeping in mind current
events around the world, it seems that the weight of the substance
of those words is only increasing, with them each day becoming
more and more topical.
